We all know the hilarious stand-up routines many comedians have put on for us in the past: Louis C.K., Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, etc. They make us laugh until our cheeks are sore, abdomens are killing us, and tears running down our faces. But did you ever stop and think about who helps put on the entire show? It is never just the performer! Let’s see which category you fall under and your role in the event that is happening on Monday, October 21st…
Performer: outgoing, spotlight hero, and woo
Do you resemble traits of the #OpenMicNight performer? Would you have the courage to jump up on stage in front of a room full of people and put on a show? The performer portrays a really fun, bold personality that doesn’t care about what others think of them. They will put themselves in the spotlight in order to have their peers entertained and enjoy a good time. These performers are always winning others over with their sociable charm.
Laugher: easy going, positivity, compassionate
Are you someone on the opposite side of the stage, ready to enjoy whatever the performers throw at you? I know I definitely would fall under this category. The laughers are people who go with the flow and love to have a fun, carefree time. They are ones who express positive thoughts, cheerful support, and a confidence that the performers and producers need to make the show possible! The laughers are also very caring because they are encouraging the performers and satisfying the producers!
Producer: organized, passionate, hard-working
If you’re not a performer and you don’t identify with a laugher, would you consider yourself a producer? The producers are one of the organized, party-planning, brains behind the operation type! They are passionate about their vision and act as the leader to get their message across. They are strong and dedicated and want nothing less than their best success. Without the producer there would be no performers and no laughers in the scenario, the producers are the glue to every event and operation that takes place!
Once you classify yourself, come on out to Open Mic Night in the Ohio Union tomorrow, Monday, October 21st at 7pm. If you wish to perform, email our Comedy Chair at firstname.lastname@example.org. Spots are still available.
